Rural focus Initiative -Uganda receives Donation.

An Enhanced Voice Against HIV/Aids Infection” (EVAIN)
Today at RUFI- U we have received 5760 (Five thousand seven hundred sixty) pieces of condoms worth ug Shs. 400,000(Four hundred thousand shillings) for the EVAIN project.
The above items were donated by the Kasese Municipal Health centre III in the bid to have an end to HIV/AIDs infection in the rural Communities.
On giving out these condoms, the Kasese Municipal Health centre III emphasized that trainings on condom use and proper supply which should be keenly monitored if we must realized the their use.
On receiving the items, the Programmes Director RUFI-Uganda, Mr. Yonah Matsitsi thanked the management of the health centre for their sincere support and assured them that with the already sensitization of the community about condom use and the for these condoms, surely there will be a reduction in the HIV infection.
With the baseline survey carried out by Rural Focus Initiative Uganda in June 2016, indicate that, HIV/AIDS is the most threatening disease rated at 79%. While 75.4% of the population believe and use condoms as the best and mostly used preventive measure.
A report by Kasese District local government indicated 8.2% of HIV prevalence rate being above the national rate of 7.3% and the New Vision report issued on 25th July 2015 indicated that HIV infections in Kasese District are not receding.

Although the use of condom is highly ranked as the best preventive measure, the accessibility of the same has remained a challenge. 81.9% of the population in Nyamwamba Division access condoms from Kasese Municipal Health Centre which is very far from a big section of the population. Some population especially the youth fear receiving condoms from public places like drug shops and health centers, as such, these will be catered for in the RUFI-U approach of spot point and focal persons finding to extend the condom supply service nearer to the people.
Therefore receiving the 5760 condoms from Kasese Municipal Health Centre III in addition to the 1440 received from NAYODE, is a blessing not only to RUFI-U but also to the communities of Nyamwamba Division who are the beneficiaries.
